An Evening Honoring the Judiciary

The Evening Honoring the Judiciary, co-sponsored by the Capital Area Bar Association and the Jackson Young Lawyers, was held Thursday, May 13, at the Old Capitol Inn with Fifth Circuit Judge Carl E. Stewart as speaker.  Pamela Prather and Tommy Siler were co-chairs of the sixteenth annual event which honored federal, state supreme court and appellate judges, as well as judges of the chancery and circuit courts in Hinds, Madison, and Rankin Counties.

Also at the dinner, members from both organizations were recognized for their contributions. LaVerne Edney received the CABA Outstanding Service Award, and Jody E. Owens, III and  Edderek L. Cole were named this year's recipients of the CABA Pro Bono Award.  The Professionalism Award was presented to Barry H.  Powell.

The CABA/JYL Judicial Innovator Award was given to Judge Thomas H. Broome. The Jackson Young Lawyer's Pro Bono Award went to Ashley N. Wicks, and Tiffany P.
